Xanga is not good because it causes me to procrastinate. Bad Xanga. For example, I can't play Boccherini. But instead of spending some good, quality time with my cello or even doing slightly sensible things like laundry, I'm here online typing to no one about nothing in my uneventful life.

Road trip to Raleigh tomorrow! Yes!

At least I can vent.

911 days since i joined xanga. Pretty pathetic.

Even more pathetic: I'm still making entries. Man, has life changed since 8th grade. Which, as certain people will remind me, was not that long ago.

Remember when . . . been doing that WAY too much recently. Geez. Going back to the Irons days makes my head AND my heart hurt. Plus, I'm just homesick. . . gotta love the good old LBK. Not that NCSA isn't frikin amazing... which it is. I've just had too much thinking time on my hands lately. (So THAT'S why I keep myself too busy...)

Anyway. We are performing operas this week... 3, in fact... of the same one though. Idomeneo- early Mozart. Kind of sucky but grows on you. Mozart= Requiem= road trip to Raleigh/Durham! Mozart also= 3 hours of orchestra pit= loopy for the rest of the night!

So. . . 2:05. . . sounds like a good time to go to sleep. Good night.

Well, now that I've got your attention... I cut my hair! Ahh! I actually wanted it shorter, but when he was done I didn't feel like harrassing and I thought "eh, baby steps."

*edit: if you haven't seen ANY pictures yet, i.e. gary lewis, you should read this entry AND the monday entry. end edit*

So what do you think?

I can even look emo kind of

Ok, maybe just weird/ confused. oh well.

In other news....

It was a good week. I had a lesson... had a good orchestra audition... Went on a fabulous opera date: Although the plot line was weird, Verdi was amazing and Jeffrey told me all about alto trombones. Never know what you'll learn, do you?

Had a fabulous ride on the Wal-Mart / Waffle House Express otherwise known as Alex's car...with chelsey taking HER turn in the backseat with jeffrey/cameron....

Visited the local wildlife...

And finished it off with some eggs over easy and Cher asking the question of the Waffle House clients over and over again- "Do you believe in life after love?" (Or is it love after love? Ich weiss nicht.)

The next night we went to see Domino.... Worthwhile movie, I'd say. I heart Keira Knightley.

Here's Lenny!

By the way, did you know you're not allowed to take pictures in the theater? I didn't. Andy let me know very nicely, as usual. Not. jk....

and here's the art on my door for the week:

Ahh. I love pictures!!

Time to go to sunnyside... get together around 11. Hopefully the Evil Dead will be out soon... that movie gives me the creeps, I don't care if it is a comedy. Plans for tomorrow: Practice and German! Promises to be ton o' fun.

Devree + roommate Amanda = Love

Edit: if you don't have time to read my entry, you should at least scroll to the bottom and see my ncsa pics!

End Edit

Why do I not update more?

Because everyone has their stinkin myspace...and facebook...everyone including me. Well, minus the myspace. But I'll still update my xanga bc I'm really cool and this is my way of expressing myself- arts school phrase.

Lots of stuff is going down lately.... wow, including my grammar.... But I didn't really mean "going down" as in progressing negatively until I started talking about my grammar. Lots of cool stuff is going down.

For instance- West Side Story. For those of you who don't know, NCSA is producing west side story next year- with THE ORIGINAL DIRECTOR of THE ORIGINAL BROADWAY SHOW, who just happens to be the dean of the drama school here at ncsa. Pretty awesome, huh? They showed the Natalie Wood movie down at the film village, it was very cool to see it on the big screen. We danced all around for about an hour afterwards... I mean, where else can you dance like a Jet across campus?

It was fun. Unfortunately my marvelously beautiful and talented roommate didn't get onto the list for the workshop/talent pool... neither did John the piano player.... Sad, eh? I couldn't believe it.

Also- human chess match was very entertaining. Two of my good friends played opposing queens for the red and black teams- Two of my very male friends. It was a hilarious production and made quite a bit of money for hurricane relief, so I hear.

We also saw the Piano last night... the movie, that is...  weird but a well-made movie. Lots of "gratuitous nudity" in Drew's words. And if Brian Sutow ever happens to read this- it was DEFINITELY more feminist than sexist. I mean, a female wrote and directed it for pete's!  However, like I said, not sure I would do that for my cello.... even though I love you very much, paolo.

Zach and I broke up...  it just needed to be done, I just need some space. I promise I'm still a nice person. Don't think I'm a dog. Cause I'm not. I just need some space and hey, 21 hours away from everyone that I know is a lot of space and I'm enjoying it.

I'm going on an opera date on tuesday! I'm dressing up and so is my date, it's going to be so much fun. This is the same kid who plans to blast the Wagner trilogy across campus from his window all day on Wagner's b-day. it's going to be so much fun.

Funny story- the coffee shop downstairs doesn't know how to make mochas. What?

in other news, I learned how to waltz. a ballet kid showed me and we waltzed around the what... which is our coffee shop downstairs... still working on the viennese.

The Cookout is the new Sonic, btw- except it's open till 3 so we usually go around 1 or 2. I also watched half of the shining (until falling asleep) and it's still my favorite horror movie. I'm also on the third book of King's dark tower series and LOVING it.

Well, since I already have a thousand words, here's some more thousands' worth of pictures. (A picture is worth a thousand words, after all.)

football in B2!

Amanda in her uber-texan mode.

Improv on the quad which is a huge grassy hill. Studio 6 in the building in the background... This one tree is the lone tree on the whole hill, a great gathering spot. I wish I was as creative as these guys... I had nothing to contribute except backup humming. Sad.

Mark.... no words describe him. This is a pre-Nerf war period piece of art.

This is pre- NCSA- PeiWei with Steven Curtis Chapman! (he's not in the picture.) Aren't we a beautiful bunch?

Ahh. I love me some mel.

My film name... Ja-vwee. Don't ask, I guess... cause I don't know. but I like the picture. Courtesy of Mark

Chelsey, (hallmate filmmaker), Kristen, (awesome Texan Flautist), Alex, (hallmate filmmaker), John (pianist) after our Corpse Bride/chick-fil-a adventure.

View from my dorm... I guess my backyard

An awkward picture- not just because I didn't rotate it correctly

The Elephants.... on a rainy day. kind of meeting place/ work of art. Designed by a student who evidently was suicidal and made it to spell "Help" from the air- which you can kind see if you're here. Then she hung herself. Cool story, eh? this is also the view from my dorm room which is right behind the photographer (and 3 floors up.)

Our room.. kind of

My Tribute to art and sports... and melissa... I told you I'd never throw that thing away!

Alex and his cap

Amanda- looking sexy as usual

Paul and amanda.... hmm.

Another shot of our room- kind of

Our Psychedelic/cheap/filthy rugs that match both of our bedspreads. great find, eh?

Rugs- a weak ending, I know. More to come, more to come...

In response to Matt's comment: I don't think they're 4A. Maybe they didn't win state and I lied, but I know they did very well. My roommate, Amanda, was the hispanic girlfriend if that helps any.
